Schedule


West Bee primarily follows this basic schedule.  Our intent is to provide flexibility within the security of routine.

8:00 - 8:25: Arrival Routine and Quiet Table Activities                                                                            
Children arrive and take care of their belongings. Then they wash their hands and put away their "bee". Quiet table activities with teacher guidance will be available for the first 15 minutes.  Breakfast of fruit, milk, cereal or muffins is available each morning at this time.  With the help of child-sized and user friendly
pitchers and spoons children are able to serve themselves.

8:25 - 8:45: Morning Meeting
The children and staff meet briefly to hear about and review the day’s activities, special events and to greet each other. This is a child-centered and participative routine filled with songs, weather observations, finger plays, discussion and dramatization.

8:45 - 9:50 Play Centers/ Learning Centers

Several areas of interest (Play Centers) will be available each day including a craft/art project. Children will choose child-oriented activities at this time, encouraged and guided by the teachers to experience a wide range of activities over time. Kindness, cooperation, communication and sharing will be emphasized. We consider this to be PRIME LEARNING TIME!

9:50 -10:10 Clean Up Time/ Bathroom/ Hand Washing                                                                   
Everybody helps pick up activities used during learning centers. This is a perfect opportunity for everyone to enjoy the results of cooperative
efforts. Also, children use the bathroom and wash hands in preparation for snack.

10:10 - 10:40 Snack                                            
   
Snack is prepared and children collect items needed to enjoy a healthy snack. Food is offered family style and is served with the help of the     children. Children and adults relax and enjoy this time together. Self-help skills will be encouraged.

10:40 - 11:20 Small Group Time


This is a time for children to come together in small groups to explore some teacher directed activities.
1. Music and Movement: singing, rhythm, instruments, dance, movement, etc.
2. Stories: children's literature, story telling, book making, charting, etc.
3. Activities: noncompetitive games, sorting, matching, concept building, readiness games, etc.

11:20-11:35: Second Circle

Review of our morning. Second Step Lesson (Social & Emotion Curriculum), Sounds Abounds Lesson ( Phonological Awareness Activities).

 

11:35 -11:40: Clean Up Time/ Bathroom/ Hand Washing                                                                            

Everybody helps pick up activities used during second circle. This is a perfect

opportunity for everyone to enjoy the results of cooperative efforts.

Also, children use the bathroom and wash hands in preparation for lunch.

 

11:40-12:10: Lunch                                             
Children collect personal items needed to enjoy a healthy lunch. Children and adults relax and enjoy this time together. 

Self-help skills will be encouraged. Children brush teeth after lunch.

 

 

12:10 -1:00: Outdoor Play/Large Muscle Activities

Outdoor play every day, weather permitting. A large indoor space is available for inclement days. Riding toys, climbing structure, sand, trucks, balls, etc. will encourage large motor skills.Clean up of playground and collection of personal items. GOODBYES
